2008 Hunting Summary

Back

Our season started off great. A few of the days reached up to 80 degrees and no rain. All five sheep hunters were back to base camp with enough time to have a ladder golf tournament and supply the kitchen with way too many fish. Five out of five rams Hook Creek camp and Windy.

Our Tigonankweine and Boundary Creek camp were hunted from the 3rd of August to the 13th. We had a couple of days at the beginning to do some traveling and were able to get camps set up before the fog and rain settled in. On the 9th, we finally got a break and it was good to go till the end. Four out of five rams were harvested and three caribou. We kept our fifth sheep hunter a few extra days, which enabled him to have a successful hunt.

Hunt #4 started off the same as last except it never did break. Two caribou were taken right at the beginning and two sheep near the end. Two of our sheep hunters were unable to hunt sheep the entire hunt. Both were kept a few extra days and two great rams were harvested and our first moose of the year. Our Bailey Creek camp and Sand Fly were hunted.

It was a long wait but well worth it. Our last sheep hunt of the year was picture perfect. We hunted Delta Dawn and Pond camp. Three rams were taken, one caribou and a wolf.
The weather held, for the most part, till the end of our season. From the 10th of September till the 30th we hunted caribou, out of Hook Lake, and ran a few helicopter moose hunts throughout the Raven's Throat and Moose Horn Rivers.

Both caribou hunts ran 100%. Three book caribou were harvested and a number of spectacular other bulls.
Throughout the moose hunting five were taken and three caribou.

We had an exceptional year, great game and super people. Our weather was worse for wear but everyone did what they could to get through it. Special thanks to all those that made the year a success. Look forward to the season ahead.

Sincerely,

dave
