We started the season off doing a few back pack hunts. Getting flown out by helicopter enabled us to hunt some country we hadn't been in a while, if ever. Hunts 1 and 2 were very successful, harvesting nine rams and four caribou. The Keele River, Painted Mountains, Rouge Range, Louis Belle, Tigonankweine and the Silverberry were all hunted.
We had a pretty rainy season right up to mid September, starting the beginning of August.
Goat Camp and Slippery Creek were hunted on our third hunt, August 3-13. Both camps moved up river, on the fourth hunt to Caribou and Willow camp. Between the two hunts ten rams were harvested, four caribou and four wolves.
On our last sheep hunt, August 27-September 10, seven ram were taken and eight caribou. Half Moon Lake, Hook Creek and the Redstone Pass were all hunted.
Throughout our caribou hunts five caribou, three moose, two sheep and a wolf was harvested. Three clients stayed for both hunts enabling them to harvest their moose and sheep. Unfortunately, two clients were unable to be flown into camp for several days, due to weather, causing them to miss their hunt completely. Both will have a chance in 2008 to harvest their bulls.
Our late season moose hunt ran from the 20th of September to the 27th. The weather co-operated enough for all hunters to get their bulls plus one caribou.
